Morocco and Tunisia Tour

As you land in Casablanca, our local driver guide will welcome you in front of gate 2 outside the airport. You will drive up north to Rabat, capital of Morocco; you will be taken to check-in at your hotel where you will be spending the night.

After breakfast, be prepared for a guided tour of Rabat, it will revolve around uncovering the history of Rabat. The tour includes a visit to Chellah and Kasbah Ouddaya. Free time afterward to stroll around the souks and bazaars in the old medina of Rabat. Then, continue to “Café Maure”, on the bank of Bouregrag River, to enjoy a Moroccan Tea time with mint tea alongside some Moroccan goodies like: “Kaab Ghazal” and “Ghariba”.

Then we will head to Fez. En route, we will be making a stop by Volubilis and Meknes. The archeological site of Volubilis is listed by the UNESCO as a worldwide heritage. A specialized guide will walk you around the remains of the Roman and Berber cultures that once occupied it.

Afterward, the trip will continue to the Imperial City of Meknes, one of Morocco’s lesser-visited. It was built by Moulay Ismail and was conceived to be the ‘Versailles of Morocco’. Once you meet your local guide, you’ll be able to visit the famed gate of Bab El Mansour, and Lhri. These sites are the main beating veins of the city. We will then continue our way to Fez.

After breakfast, start your guided city tour of Fez, once the capital of the kingdom before 1912. Your visit today will revolve around exploring Fez the Medina which is a World Heritage Site, according to the UNESCO, and it was founded in the 9th century and it is home to the world’s oldest university.

Your local guide will show you around the major sites like Bou-Inania and Attarin Medersa, the tanners, Ess-Seffarine Square, Moulay Driss tomb, El-Nejjarine square, and the cabinet makers’ souk, the Hebrew district ‘Mellah’. In your schedule, you will have a pottery workshop with a pottery master so that you get to have a full Moroccan experience.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you are free to either choose to go back to your hotel or stroll in the narrow alley of the old town on your own.

After breakfast, you will be picked up, and then travel to the imperial city of Marrakech. Along the way, you will pass through small villages such as Imouzar and Ifrane. A bit later in the day, when you reach one of the morocco’s best known agricultural centers called Beni Melal. You will continue on your journey to Marrakech.

Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be taken to check-in at your hotel where you will be spending the night.

Today you will get the chance to wake up and live Marrakech, a dream of many, so be sure to make the best of it. After your breakfast, our local guide and driver guide will be waiting for you to start a guided city tour of the “Ochre City”. We will visit first in the morning the Majorelle Garden which was named after the French painter, Jacques Majorelle who dedicated a lot of effort and passion to this art piece.

After Majorelle let’s continue after it to Menara and though the name in Arabic translates to “lighthouse”, it is actually a pavilion with a basin and a garden of orchards and olive groves. We will be heading afterward to the Koutobia Mosque and through the Jewish quarter called Mallah.

After lunch at a local restaurant, finish your visit with a carriage ride or “Koutchi” to Jamaa El Fnaa.

After Breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a free day to discover Marrakech on your pace. Have your own Marrakech experience, meet the locals, engage in the “Marrakechi” lifestyle, find the storytellers, the snake charmers and let Marrakech charm you as well.

Wake up and enjoy a lovely breakfast at your hotel before heading to Casablanca. Once in Casablanca, you will be joined with your local guide for a visit to the Hassan II mosque, an Architectural master peace overlooking the Atlantic coast of Casablanca. Continue afterward for a tour of the city and its corniche, the Habous quarters, Royal Palace (exterior visit).

Enjoy a free morning before heading to the airport of Casablanca for the flight to Tunisia. Arrive at Tunis airport and get transferred to the hotel in Tunis. Have dinner and overnight.

After Breakfast, check out and explore Carthage (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the capital of the ancient Carthaginian Empire. Visit Byrsa Hill to see the ruins of Roman buildings and the Carthage Museum. See the Tophet, where urns containing the ashes and milk teeth of 8th-century BC children have been unearthed. Visit Antonine Baths, a huge Roman bath complex on the edge of the Mediterranean, and visit the theatre and Punic Port.

Proceed to Sidi Bou Said, stroll through the narrow streets of Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque small town bordered by white-washed houses with blue shutters and doors. Check out the various art galleries and try some mint tea in one of the traditional street cafes while enjoying the superb view of the gulf of Tunisia. Then, spend some leisure time indulging in shopping. Lunch in a local restaurant.

Visit Bardo Museum (closed on Mondays), one of the best archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, which is well known for its beautiful collection of mosaics. The museum is located in an old palace that belongs to the Beys, rulers of Tunisia.

Next, visit Tunis Medina, where we will see the “old Tunisia” which includes the Medina, the ‘European’ quarter built at the beginning of the 20th century, and the new modern suburbs. For more than 500 years, Medina has been the historic heart of Tunis and UNESCO has classified it as a World Heritage Site due to its fascinating and exotic maze of streets. We will continue to Sousse.

Upon arrival at your hotel in to Sousse, have dinner, and overnight.

After breakfast, visit the Medina of Sousse which is one of the finest, and relaxing places in Tunisia (10 Km).

Depart to El Jem (1 hr driving = 70 Km), enthralled by one of the world’s largest and most spectacular Roman Amphitheatre. Built in 238 AD, the Amphitheatre can hold up to 35,000 spectators.

Next, we will go to Matmata (2.5 hr driving = 250 Km) which was the setting for the film Star Wars. This village, named after the Berber tribe that inhabits the region, is the largest of the troglodyte communities. Lunch in a troglodyte restaurant.

Depart to Douz (1.5 hr driving = 90 Km), which is a small town that appears to be plopped down amidst the dunes that are known as the “gateway to the Sahara”. In ancient times, it was an important stop on the trans-Saharan caravan routes. Check-in at the hotel in Douz, have dinner, and overnight.

After Breakfast, enjoy a 1 hr of Camel riding in the dunes. Depart to Tozeur via Chott El Jerid (1 hr and 45 min = 120 Km). Stop for a photo in Chott El Jerid (its sunbaked surface, composed of a hard crust of sodium chloride, conceals sources of underground water and the area has a vivid red color due to the high iron content). Lunch at a local restaurant.

At 14:00, depart by 4X4 cars to visit Nefta and Ong Jemel, the famous place where the STAR WARS movie was made (65 Km = 1 hr driving).

Return to the hotel in Tozeur (65 Km = 1 hr driving), have dinner, and overnight.

After breakfast, proceed in 4X4 to visit the Mountain oasis of Chebika/Tamerza/ Midès (1 hr and 15 min driving= 70 Km).

In Chebika, the refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at the bottom of a gorge.

Tamerza looks barricaded by its mountain range as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as far as the Chott and the sand hills.

Finally, there is Midès, the westernmost and arguably the most impressive of these oases which overlooks a breathtakingly high canyon.

Return to the hotel (1 hr and 15 min driving = 70 Km). Have lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Medina of Tozeur and Dar Cherait museum (2 hr visit = 5 Km). Have dinner and overnight.

Have breakfast. Then check-out and depart to visit Sbeïtla (2 hrs driving = 170 Km): one of the few ancient Roman cities that is famous not only for its strategic role but also for its politics and economy.

Proceed to Kairouan (1.5 hr driving = 105 Km), one of the holiest sites in Islam and the spiritual home of all Tunisians. Explore Kairouan, the city which rises like a dream of ochre and tawny beige, bearing in its serenity 13 centuries of Islamic culture.

Visit the Great Mosque of Uqba Bin Nafi, an important Islamic landmark and architecture which was built in the 9th century (1 hr visit).

Lunch in hotel La Kasbah Kairouan (1 hr), next visit Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, which houses the tomb of one of Prophet Mohammed’s companions known as the Barber. Next, visit the Aghlabid Pools (1.5 hr visit).

Continue to Hammamet (1 hr and 15 min drive = 90 Km), check-in, have dinner, and overnight.

Have breakfast. Then depart to visit Hammamet and its Medina (10 Km).

Next visit Nabeul (30 minutes driving = 20 Km) and enjoy the handicrafts center most famous for pottery, distilled water from orange flowers, its roses, and jasmine plants. It is a great town of trade with many specialties: pottery, matting of rush, embroidery, and wrought iron.

Continue to Kelibia (1 hr driving = 60 Km), visit a charming fishing port close to a historic vestige and beautiful beaches, this lively fishing port is noteworthy for its 12th-century fort that overlooks a magnificent panorama of the sea from the top of a hill.

Visit Kerkouane (40 minutes driving = 40 Km). On this, the archaeological sites on the seafront are the best-preserved remains of the Carthaginian civilization: the ruins of a small city, with houses, a temple, and ramparts.

Have (Fish Menu) and visit El Haouaria situated at the tip of the Cap Bon peninsula, a pretty blue and white village adjacent to imposing mines dating from Antiquity, the Grottes (15 minutes driving = 15 Km).

Return to the hotel in Hammamet (2 hrs driving), have dinner, and overnight.

Have breakfast in the hotel. Checkout and transfer to the airport for the final departure.
