Day 5: Game Viewing
Today will be spent on extended game drives to different areas of the Park. This is the game reserve famous for “Operation Rhino” which brought with the white rhino back from the brink of extinction. Now you should see just how successful the nature conservation service has been. Lunch will either be at the restaurant or a safari picnic at some view site.
Sightings today should be of rhino, giraffe, Buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, warthog, baboon, vervet monkey, with antelope such as impala, nyala and kudu frequently seen and with the possibility of seeing lion, leopard, cheetah, elephants, black rhino, Hippo, crocodile, monitor lizards, hyena & antelope such as red bush duiker, steenbok, waterbuck, eland, reedbuck, bush buck and then the rarer samango monkey and wild dog much less frequently seen.
Day 6: Back to the Lodge
After your final early morning game drive and with breakfast taken, time to venture back through the park to the memorial gate leisurely, thus giving you a good chance to catch some last-minute photos of your favorite animals. Then it’s time to head back down the coast to the Ekutheleni Lodge for a good night's sleep from the tiring days of game viewing.
Day 7: Cultural Tour or Sea Safari
Choose a magical cultural tour to experience Zulu dancing, history, food and beer tasting with the locals at Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve or head for a thrilling sea safari to view dolphins and whales.
Day 8: Adventure Activities
Today is your scenic South Coast Meander to Oribi Gorge. A spectacular natural paradise with a range of adrenaline including activities such as the wild gorge swing, zipline, white water rafting, birding or gorge exploration. A mixture of fun and exhilaration that is accessible and unforgettable.
Day 9: Cultural Rituals & Heritage Market
Time to take a Midlands Meander, to see the Valley Of a thousand Hills and visit the Phezulu cultural village. Situated on the edge of the mighty Valley of thousand Hills, visitors will get to see one of the most impressive panoramic views in Africa. You will get the chance to experience vibrant Zulu dancing and other cultural rituals performed by the renowned Gassa clan. There is also a heritage market filled with African beadwork and curios, a must for you to collect your souvenirs of Africa.
Day 10: Shop `til You Drop
A visit to the largest shopping center in the Southern Hemisphere will give you the chance to take advantage of the good exchange rate in South Africa. Whether it is a pound, dollar or Euro the exchange rate to the Rand is going to buy you a good exchange. However, don’t despair if shopping is your nightmare, as this complex boasts movie houses, restaurants and pure entertainment that will make it a worthwhile trip for everyone to enjoy.
Day 11: Shark Day
A special day awaits you after breakfast. We travel to Umhlanga ( 45min ) and head of to the Sharks Board for an entertaining and informative audio and visual of sharks. The wildlife feast is continued at the exotic Umgeni River Bird Park, Snake park and lastly the Botanical Gardens. A full day of wonder even for the skeptic nature lover.
Day 12: Departure awaits
Time to rest and relax at the lodge. A time for reflection of the magical days spent in the sun, surf and safari before your return to Durban International Airport and your final farewell.
